About Corpus Christi
Corpus Christi, Texas, is a wonderful port city
situated in the southern region of Texas. The name
of the city means “Body of Christ” and was given to
it in the honor of the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharist)
when the Spanish settlement took place. It is also
known as The Sparkling City by the Sea, a nickname
acquired after being promoted as such in travel
literature.
One of the things to know about Corpus Christi is
that there is a large Hispanic community, living
together with many other demographic groups,
ethnicities, and sub-cultures, all contributing to
its mixed flavor of different identities.
If you come to Corpus Christi, there are lots of
things to do. Get ready for what the art galleries
and the 8 local museums have prepared for you: C.C.
Art Connection, K Space Art Studio, Wilhelmi-Holland
Gallery, Aloe Tile Works are just a few names of art
galleries that provide unique exhibitions worth
visiting. Among the numerous museums, you will also
have the chance to visit the Selena Museum,
initiated by her fans, as a tribute to the famous
singer.
Another attraction in Corpus Christi is the Corpus
Christi Symphony Orchestra offering classical music
performances along the Texas Gulf Coast, so all of
you who are interested will definitely enjoy it.
Also, you must pay a visit to Texas State Aquarium
with interesting exhibits on marine life and shows
with otters, dolphins, and reptiles. Your children
will love it for sure, not to mention that Corpus
Christi holds something really special for them –
the Cool Cats Toy Museum.
If these haven’t convinced you yet, then the 20-day
event taking place in April and May should get you
decided: during the Buccaneer Days you won’t be able
to resist participating at the carnival, the rodeo,
the wonderful parades, as well as the barbecues and
the dance competitions.
